  • Destruction and Melancholy

I was looking, more, at this urbex site; jealous, slightly, because of what he’s had the chance to see. Well, okay, made the chance to see. Some quite stunning buildings in a state of terminal decline. For the most part it’s vaguely melancholy, with some things being quite ‘uncomfortable’ (looking at the ‘care’ of mentally unwell individuals from a victorian perspective is something quite terrifying); but viewing the ‘tour’ of Beedingwood House left me angry.

How can we let something as fantastic as that get into the state it’s in, a condition where it’s probably unsalvagable. Such a beautiful piece of architecture destined to be destroyed by vandalism and inattention. I’m shocked at how distressing it is, to see something so beautiful destroyed.

But then I’ve always had a thing for beautiful architecture.

  • Odd how the world is….

Sometimes my life is sane and normal. Y’know. Student, broke, that kind of normal thing. At the moment it’s not; so um, I’m on a bit of a high at the moment (despite being completely broke, to a really quite terrifying level…); and yeah, so, stuff.

I’m on such a high. Incidentally, from the recent Coverville, the Save Ferris version of Come On Eileen is another rocking piece of music. Yes.

Apparently the problematic individual is, in fact, trespassing. He didn’t have permission, so if he does it again, I’ll call the police. And I intend to move. Let him think he won. I need a life I can relax in. Yeah. And so that’s cool. Don’t forget to download the What Came First… video. Over 200 downloads so far; although ideally, download it from the mirror at a minor journey, because my bandwidth limit is approaching with suprising rapidity. Once I thought 5Gb/Month was *huge*!

  • 100 Downloads and Counting

Freakily the last video has now hit 100 downloads (split between me and Nikki). That is quite shocking!

  • The arsehole’s back in town

    *sighs*

So, it appears my neighbour is back to “I can come in your garden whenever I please”. I woke up this morning to find that he’s taken down the fence, it’s not his builders which was irritating; no, it’s *him*. I look out the window from my kitchen and I see fucking *him*.

I think I’m going to have to move. Which is distressing, it’s taken us 6 months to get this house to something like a home, and now to think about moving and him fucking winning, but I just don’t have the resources to fight him right now.

  • Soulwax ‘n’ pills

So, there’s this CD in the shops called “Too Many DJs Vol 2”. I was aware that this was one of a series of lots of CDs, but I also knew you couldn’t buy them; I didn’t even think it was possible to download them (having had a bit of a look around) – but today I found a whole bunch of them up for download.

And I must share with you that 2 Many DJs are incredibly cool. Just so cool.

I must have them all! ALL! Do you understand me?!

The only problem with this is it’s very hard to leave the computer with these files coming down….and each one arrives and I want to hear it, and they’re arriving just faster than the time it takes to play them…..

In other news, my GP’s surgery have fucked up, so I get to run out of tablets on Monday; hopefully the prescription will be there by Monday – in which case it shouldn’t be too disasterous, merely difficult.

  • Packed full of green badness

I have clearly caught some revolting child-related lurgee ;-)

I’ve managed to pick up a cough, a cold and a sore throat. I don’t feel *really* lousy yet, but I can tell it’s working on it, and some of the stuff coming out of me is *revolting*. Is that too much information?

Anyway, last night I finished [I hope] the next in the Issigonis Eggs videos. This one however is, uh, a bit big. It’s 23 minutes long, as it stands, and you won’t believe how much stuff I cut and ditched. Anyway, it’s being uploaded for checking by my co-conspiritor and main presenter; if it’s passed then it’ll move onto the ‘published’ phase of existence.

  • Interstella 5555 (The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem)

So, when I was living with Ais she introduced me to the Daft Punk album Discovery (I did like Daft Punk already, but didn’t have the album); and she told me that there was a film (being) made which featured the same blue people as in the videos…

….I bought that film, and it is really just that; it’s an extended hour and a bit music video featuring the blue people from the videos for “one more time”, and it works incredibly well. There’s no speech, to speak of, in the film, and it’s phenominal how well the album tells the story. It’s sort of remeniscent of Ulysees 31 (for those who remember such things) in style. I can’t really think of anything really intelligent to write about it; but hey, if you like Daft Punk and liked the blue-people videos for their songs then you’ll probably like Interstella 5555. Also, it was only a tenner from Fopp on DVD.

  • Warning: The Approaching Video is Unfeasibly Long

At just shy of 25 minutes, this excessive piece of video created by me, Nikki, and our group of mad people who put up with us, well, it’s so long that I’m going to leave it to render overnight, and then view it in the morning. I’m praying I’ve edited it okay; why? Because at 25 minutes it’s too long for me to sit and watch it though now, at half twelve at night….. So I hope it’s okay, otherwise I’ll have to re-edit and re-render it tomorrow. I should be asleep.

  • America….it just scares me.

    So:

    – You have a president who you know took power despite losing
    – You have a president who has repeatedly lied to the people
    – You have a president who is reactionary and has alienated the entire rest of the world from your country
    – You have a president who is a fundamentalist christian, who wishes to inflict his beliefs on the rest of the world
    – You have a president who has run the economy completely into the ground, with a staggering budget defecit and phenominal unemployment rates
    – You have a chance to be rid of the man

It appears, as things stand, that America as a whole has done something I feared; I feared it quite simply because I rather like the idea of humans surviving on this planet. And what has America, as a whole, done? It appears at the moment, that you’ve re-elected the lying, cheating, unpleasant little individual and his bunch of cronies for another 4 years of planet and culture destruction.

Why? How can you trust him?

I’ve never been that bothered about American elections before, and I’m amazed at how distressing I find the fact that the American people have actually chosen to elect him. Fundamentalist Christianity is imho, no better than any other fundamentalist religion. I am saddened that America believes it is.
