Well, I thought it was about time I put this to some use….

Ha, in my brain is that:

    1. I really should get some sleep.
    2. I hate anyone who says “we’ll give you an interview”, and then says “ooops, you’re actually on the reserve list”. Its irritating, depressing, and very very unprofessional. That goes out to QA Miriad.
    3. I miss my girlfriend

However since this site first appeared some cool things have happened. My girlfriend got the chance to meet me (as in Kate as opposed to my “male” self). Not only that; she didn’t laugh or make fun of me or tell me I was a pervert. Infact she was/is perfect. She’s even bought me some clothes. Sorry to brag, but I just didn’t expect anything. The best I dared hope for was acceptance – but she likes me. Cool.

I’m still searching for a job designing web-sites; why not visit the upcoming Vision Web Design site….!. See I can do sexy/cool/graphicsy/what people want type sites.

My male self is off to Reading Festival….so that’ll be cool. I’m meeting up with some friends from Uni, and we can go and watch ELASTICA play. I never thought I’d see that. Hoped, yes – but really believed – no.

What else? Well that’s about it. I went to see Austin Powers II, (i.e. the spy that shagged me). STOP READING HERE IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN AUSTIN POWERS II!!!!! The really fake looking sets just bugged me, the use of american countryside was irritating – and the phone boxes looked wrong (picky – but hey – I’m picky; so what). The Fat Basturd character was pointless – however the Jerry Springer stuff was cool, the film was amusing, but I could see the ending about 7 miles away and I would have definately been disapointed if I’d have paid full wack at a big “brand” cinema (Odeon/Virgin) as opposed to my groovy, £2 cheaper local cinema….

Okay – time to upload this baby!

    TTFN, love Kate…..

    28th March 2002, 14:37.

Lets try that again shall we? This time without Zap crashing….I forgot that the HTML highlighter doesn’t like new files. I don’t know why. Never sorted it out – it never gave me that much grief.

It’s okay, iirc, if you save a file and then re-open it.

Anyway, so, I’ve been using this RiscPC and I have this horrible feeling I’m being sucked into the RISC OS scene again. Okay, so, I’m unlikely to spend much or even any money. Not least because I don’t actually have any money, but I’ve remembered how much I like RISC OS.

The fact that stuff like this: KinoAMP and (see the WIP section) are appearing – and thus actually making the machine remotely useable for everyday stuff again…

It’s amazing – they’re squeezing the RiscPC until it’s chips squeek. So, this one’s got an X Server and SSH client. If they do ever re-write WebsterXL in C so it’s both fast and a reasonable webbrowser then this machine will actually become very usable.

I could do with a tad more VRam also….of course, there is this. But 1k? for a RISC OS machine? Do they realise what kind of PC I could get for that?! Or for that matter how much Mac that would buy? 1k, no vat and no monitor! Not even a 14″ monitor (who’d sell a PC with a 14″ monitor).

Which planet are these people on?! And then you see this….archived news article from 2000 and you realise just how delayed everything is. RISC OS 4.5 due out in Summer 2001? We’ve just seen RISC OS 4.01…

Anyway, onto real stuff, I’m gonna stop wittering about undead operating systems now…

So, I’ve updated the MZ rebuild page, although it’s now going to be a tad slow on modems. Okay, it takes a minute and a half to load. I’ll fix that in the next update.

Perhaps I should update the site’s version number. I mean, we’ve got to be at 7.3 or 4 by now. It’s had so many minor tweaks. Perhaps it’s more 7.1.4. So, anyway, I went down to, well, up to the Temping agency and signed up there….I need the cash! *sigh*. I really *hate* starting new jobs, and temping is probably going to be hell on a stick, but I’m doing it for the time being anyway. I really need to be able to pay for the bike’s insurance, and the petrol, for that matter, and my credit card bill. And rent. I’ve not paid rent since January….

    So…

We got the 251 going….that was quite impressive…

It’s only stood for a year. And siezed. And stood in a garden for a year or two before that….

After filling the entire street with smoke from burning plusgas we managed to get it down to a slightly more sensible level of smoking….

[Break to put throttle assembly back together]

Right, that’s the 251 going properly. it needs two parts to be complete, or 1 part to be complete and a few replaced to be a really nice (that’s the bar end and the ignition system).

So, anyway. I’ve just spent the last few hours with Amy online…because Amy has taken it upon herself to add comments to this page. And thanks to Amy and Peter (at least, I think that’s the peter involved) – we’ve got it working on my machine :-)

So, now you can add comments and all tell me what a lazy cow I am.

And having got the comment code written by Amy, I’m going to rip off some survey’s from her diary:

Survey pinched Amy, pinched from sanjibabes pinched from katyha pinched f…

Well, Hannah (the S.O.) went home yesterday – and I miss her dreadfully. She spent just over a week down here while my parents were on holiday – and I have managed to be myself almost all the time (except for shopping and a few other odds and ends).

I’ve got to put myself away as it were in preparation for my parents arrival – so all the clothes scattered around my room (currently including bras, strappy tops, skirts, and knickers) will be popped back in their box and neatly put away.

This is going to be harder than before because I have become so comfortable over the last two weeks – especially since the S.O. bought me a “chest” – to replace the foodbags full of water (a little less than ½ a pint makes a fairly reasonable B cup – make sure you remove the air) which had been driving both of us insane with their rustling. Being of asian decent it’s a little difficult to get the correct colouration, but these are not intended to be seen by anyone ‘cept Hannah anyway – so it doesn’t matter. And they are a damn sight more comfortable and warm than the water (hint two for water – use boiled water (allowed to cool) then heat them on a hot water bottle!).

I’ve put up my story (chapter one of it anyway) so I can now be scared stiff about the responses. It’s not the traditional T* story in that it’s not particularly about being T*….it’s more about ordinary lives.

I’ve also put up a “contact page” and so I can now be told how bad this site is.

What else. I finished putting up the porch; I went to see Micky Blue Eyes at the local cinema – which was cool. Predictable but enjoyable – and our Mr Grant did not stammer too much…..

Apart from that I’ve started to get more – shall we say – florid in descriptions of my experience (job wise). Not lying – just writing in such a way as to allow multiple interpretations of the sentances – the most obvious not nessacarily being accurate. I’m fed up of being told I don’t have the 2000 years experience in a commercial environment….Aledgedly there’s a skills shortage – but if they won’t employ me until I’ve got commercial experience how am I meant to get it?

    Sorry, moan over.

The computers also playing up – but then it has been on for days without a break – that may not sound much but – it needs a 9″ desk fan to keep it cool enough to work (it has that many drives in it) – so several days without a crash (requiring a reset) is pretty good. But one of my macro inserters is now just going splut and the browser keeps complaining about undefined font handles (comes from S24’s habit of resetting my machine to the system font). Okay. Time to tidy and do job apps…..fun fun fun.

    Missing SO. Bugger.

    Love Kate
