Anyone got any easy way of obtaining this version of Love will tear us apart? I’m not up to getting tracks out of swfs… Grr.

It’s posted on a site for ‘freely available music‘ – I really like all three tracks on there, but bah…

  • blah!

    So incredibly tired.

It’s 5ish pm, and I slept for…uh…7 hours today. Which should be enough. But yesterday I walked in to A&E and there were 2 cardiac arrests which arrived almost simultaneously.

I, for the first time in my life, did CPR. It’s fucking knackering. The chap was long gone though…

….and the whole first chunk of the night was like that. I am so tired. My knees hurt. On the plus side I did manage to go swimming yesterday; did 12-14 lengths, I think. Still using the float; still not confident enough to go without.

I might try if I can do widths instead; I don’t fancy doing lengths… over the deep end of the pool… without a float. I’m dead chuffed though; twice in one week.

  • Living beyond my means…

    Heh.

    Let’s describe today for you:

Well, I went to a automotive performance parts specialist to get a new air filter for my upgraded classic, nothing too exciting, just a Pipercross filter (we’re not extending to K&N at the moment, it’d probably be a bit excessive for an untuned A+ series engine anyway!); headed back and prepared myself a wrap for lunch – with some fresh chilled water on the side. I did some studying on my laptop, listened to some remixes by CCC on the hi-fi and then headed out, in the minor, to the swiming baths.

  • Argh! My Eyes!

    Actually, they’re just itching. Itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… itch… (etc)

    Grargh.

Anyway, ignoring my eyes (difficult) and not rubbing them (also difficult). I’ve got my shiny pipercross airfilter. Thus making my car the world’s most silly performance minor. A 1.3litre / Performane airfilter / LCB Manifold equiped minor done completely on the cheap – indeed, only done because:

    – 1.3 engine -> second cheapest option (second only to random second hand 1.1 litre engine).
    – 1.3 engine’s airfilter won’t fit -> mentioned to woman in shop who had old stock she wanted rid of for S.U. carb equipped cars….

    Argh.

    So fucking itchy….

    calm… calm… mnyar.

    They’re driving me insane.

Okay. I need to go work.

I’ve sorted out Regolith, I’m planning to go swimming… but now I should…oh, Lauren’s out of the Bath, I shall shave my legs, swim, then work :-)

  • The headache of dooom!

So, I awoke this morning with a really bad headache, knowing that I needed to get [at least one] vehicle sorted before tomorrow I set to on the minor to get it at least back to the state we were in before I approached the weekend.

It’s now back together; and I’ve taken 400mg ‘brufen and 1g of paracetamol. 2 hours later and my headache’s actually gone. This is a first for medicine. Normally we get reduced pain, but today it’s gone.

So I can actually get some uni work done… [prevaricating]

  • Things that don’t fit in the night…

    Frustrating, this is.

Today with much effort Nikki and I trecked off in search of the holy grail of scrap yards; one with a minor (or any other A/A+ series cars) in. We set of at halfpast 9 and at about 10:45 managed to find one with 3 minis and the remnants of an Austin 1300. Woot!

One exhaust manifold (and an 8 track with matching speakers, but we won’t talk about that) later; we headed home (via the Freecycle’d hoover collection & Halfords). Having got home I set to on the 8 track, it being so hot that even being outside caused fluids to run screaming from my body and head sunwards in a cloud of evaporation so fast it looked like a steam vent.

Uh, yeah, so we got that to work (well, okay, John cleaned the head and capstan and then we tried it…and, despite 10 years in an open-top’d 1300 it worked straight away. Quality Waltham Product. Anyway, yeah, when it got cooler (after that e’re so funky Dr Who episode) I set to. Angle-grinder in hand the new manifold was reduced to an exhaust only manifold.

It took about 30-40 minutes all in, but there it was… and then I matched it with the ‘log’ MG/Metro manifold I’d been given which I’d ever so carefully assembled onto it’s body…. and made discovery number one.

The ‘log’ manifold is thicker than the standard exhaust manifold. The mounting flanges don’t match. Not one bit. Ignoring this, on the basis that I could ‘design’ a bit of metal to make up the difference, and then ‘slot’ it together so it was all tightened up nicely I carried on.

There’s more pipes on the Ital carb. And yet, where the oil breather goes? That remains a mystery.

As it got dark, eventually even I had to concede defeat, at which point the second query about whether the Ital/1275 air filter would fit arose. It doesn’t.

I can only presume it does when it’s on the Ital manifold. I’ll check tomorrow. Otherwise, I have *no* fucking clue. No clue whatsoever.

But with the log manifold, it no go.

So now I’ve got a chopped up mini manifold that’s sweet f-a use, and a log manifold that I can return to Andrew, and an engine that’s going to continue to run hideously lean :-(

    Bleh.

And Trey; she’s gone home for the weekend, so no snuggles :-(

And my hayfever’s fucking sucked today. Bad day. Yes.

  • Paper Mountain

So, I’m collecting evidence for my folder… I’m terrified by the simple quantity of paper that I’m getting through.

My Yr 1 folder is a completely full folder – lever arch type thing; and apparently when I did my first placement she commented that it was too thin. My second year folder is frickin’ huge already… and I’ve only done collection of evidence for 4 of the 10 I can easily meet.

    Blah.

I’ve got to write them up before I start my next set of nights, which is something to look forward to.

I’ve been to the Guppie this morning, and he’s prescribed (actually prescribed!) a different anti-histamine and some more beclamethasone. I hope it works. Ironically, and obviously, today I didn’t get such bad hayfever. Blah. Of course, I’m enjoying the mild sniffling, as opposed to full blown eyes itching etc. It’s really nice to actually be able to see!

Anyway, in other news I’ve slapped a coat of paint on the top edge of the sign-top (by the way Nikki, there’s enough plastic left for you to make something up if you want; there might even be a bit of wood).

Plan is: Scour scrappies for A-Series engine’d cars on Saturday; then knock up remaining chunk of crane. It’s looking good at the moment though. It needs some silver on it to make it look a bit more metallic, and some weight limit warnings. I think it might be made by Dke Lift Inc. Unless anyone’s got any better suggestions.

    And finally…

This is very, very, odd. I recommend Cry for the Dwarf; Intrinsic Lesbian and I’m Afraid This Is Going To Hurt.

  • Progress (of sorts)

So I have this thing about challenging my habits. I’ve not eaten – at least not on purpose – celery since I was a kid and declared it revolting.

The only time I ever even suggested eating it was as a joke when I was going on a mountain walking expedition (Duke Of Edinburgh’s Award) – when I suggested that our emergency rations should be Tab Clear (0 calories) and Celery (-ve calories). I was a sarky kid.

  • Worst Girlfriend in the World…

Sometimes that’s what I feel like. I know that it’s not my fault that I have to spend [so much time] working on Uni stuff, and that Essays – like this one – end up occupying my weekend. I feel cruddy though; I spent half last week working nights, then the next two days were taken up with me feeling and looking like crap, and today. The first day we could have spent together, I’ve spent *slowly* proofing this essay; I’ve not even done it well. I’m not really happy with it, I just hope it’s good enough.

So, next on my list is fixing my motorbike. Then maybe I’ll spend some time with Trey, if I’m lucky :-/

Blah. My hayfever is continuing to make me feel like crap; I might take some deconjestant too, see if it’s a cold (bloody nights) or hayfever…

On the good side, my printer is very shiny and I’m very impressed with it :-)
