    I’ve been working, with John, on the set. It appears that the chopper thyristor may be the killer that’s leading to the fuse blowing rather rapidly on turn-on.

    It’s now eaten a collection of antisurge fuses. Which is annoying.

  • A day of stuff

    So,

    It’s been a bit of a ‘day’ really. It’s been my last day of placement; took my cake along (which they all raved about, strange people, it was only banana cake!), managed to sort out a card, having not managed to find one I liked yesterday, got it all sorted and done in time. Got all the work for the placement signed off.

    It’s always an odd feeling leaving a placement. Particularly one I’ve enjoyed. It’s kinda like quitting a job you’re actually enjoying. Still, it’s one step closer to qualifying.

    Lauren managed to more or less kick me into getting the last of the Regolith stuff down to PK Music Exchange. So, that’s all gone. End of another era, more or less. Just the Mac to go now.

    And then I got the news about ‘the big project’. They want to go ahead, but uh, not really with me. Or not really with me involved in such a big way. And they can’t make promises about me being involved at all – and I’m not sure how involved I’d want to be if it wasn’t, uh, the way it was ‘original envisaged’. It’s kinda mine and Nikki’s idea and… well… I dunno. Anyway, it’s kinda left me in a sucky mood. Was going to do some stuff, now really don’t feel like it.

    So, uh, been a little while since I posted….

    A week, actually. During which I’ve… been sick. I’ve actually been way better, the day after the 37.7 deg temperature I started to feel better, not like ‘going back to work’ better, but significantly better. I guess it’s like most fevers, they hit a peak of awful and then you start to feel better.

  • Well at least I don’t feel so guilty

    So, I have this terrible guilt about days off. I hate taking time off, even when I’m sick. I always feel like I’m skiving; even when I’m ill enough that stairs seem like some kind of obstacle course and, as I have been, I’m spending all my time asleep.

    But I finally went to see the GP today, although I’m actually feeling more okay today. It’s probably a bacterial respiratory tract infection, which is why it’s taking such a long time for my body to fight it. And explains the 37.7 deg temperature I had last night. Apparently if it gets worse, and I get worse temperatures of chest pains or start coughing up anything that’s more interesting than yellow goo, then I’m to go back and have antibiotics, although I think she’d’ve preferred me to have them now.

    Unfortunately, sitting up to use the computer for more than a few minutes at a time makes me feel worse. So I’m going to stop, and go back to staring at mindnumbing daytime telly.
