The big old V-day

So, uh, been a little while since I posted….

A week, actually. During which I’ve… been sick. I’ve actually been way better, the day after the 37.7 deg temperature I started to feel better, not like ‘going back to work’ better, but significantly better. I guess it’s like most fevers, they hit a peak of awful and then you start to feel better.

So, we got more moving done, slowly, Lauren doing most of it, although the last couple of days I’ve been doing my fair share of box lugging. The odd huge coughing fit ensuring I didn’t feel too guilty about not being at work. That and the presence of Trey – which made my Valentine’s a magical evening. I for once don’t really feel like sharing how wonderful it was, but it was, and just served to reinforce my love of this wonderful, fabulous girl.

Although I still feel sad that I didn’t manage to make it in and get the present I wanted to get for her, but if it’s still there when I’ve made up the cash a bit then it should be good. I guess she’s probably most of the way home, maybe a bit past Birmingham now.

Anyway, I headed in to my placement today, discovering a few hundred yards from the house that the 2-stroke tank’s managed to smear a good size quantity of 2 stroke on my tyre (grr, nearly called that a tire).

Trey’s had me saying “wad-r” and “cell-phone”. And I noticed a rising inflection in a sentance earlier today…. Meh! I’m going to be as bad as Nikki!

Yeah, uh, I think I want to reposition the 2-stroke overflow so it goes somewhere… less… important. It actually seems to manage to run down from behind the airbox to somewhere insane, to the left hand edge of the wheel. Anyway, bit of a shock as I went round a lefthander to find the bike wandering off rightwards, but all kept nicely under control. Did it on the way home too, the little bugger.

I’ve also cooked my colleagues a cake. A Bananananananana cake. It tastes cool, but I’m not sure how it’s going to *look*.

Never mind.

Anyway, yeah, it’s good to get back into cooking. I kinda love cooking, it’s something I’m pretty good at, and really enjoy it. I love making special things for people I care about, but baking isn’t really something I’ve ever done a great deal of – so this was a bit of a new venture. I really hope it’s worked. Otherwise I’ll have to *very quickly* think of something else to get them.

So uh, yeah. Not a very exciting entry is it?

Anyway, out in the mog yesterday and…. Cough-cough-die. That bloody Lucas fuel pump has gone and become unreliable again. I really really hate those bloody things, I think I need to get a service kid for it, but I have a feeling the service kit’s about half the price of a new pump, and if I got a new pump I could get a new electronic pump, without the frickin’ points which burn out and die.

I’ve actually got through 4 pumps now, I think, since I owned Rebecca. Or I will have when I replace this (the next one will be the 5th pump on the car in 4 years). So this time it definately will be the electronic one; I didn’t know they even existed before. So uh, let us all hope that a show approaches rapidly.

Oh, and finally, I got a new desklamp. The old angle poise I dearly love will go in the garage or on a workbench or something. It’s a fluorescent lamp based one, the starter on the tube is a bit sick, and it’s got support only from the connector – so the lamp’s started to hang down beyond the casing. Oh, and it won’t clamp to my new desk in the new shiny house. So uh, 5 quid later and I’ve got one of those silly two-prong-arial like badly made desk lamps. ‘s clear, with the transformer visible in the base….

Damnit, there was something else I wanted to witter about. Wonderfalls! Yeah! That series *rocks*. Or at least, episodes 1-4 rock, which is as far as I’ve seen. Think Joan of Arcadia, but funnier, with a uh, closet car-pooling sister ( ;-) ), and uh, more complex plot-lines. It’s fabulous. I can’t believe they canned it and didn’t even show the entire first series. We must beat them with sticks…. and…. we must get the BBC (or some other UK channel, I’d guess LivingTV might) to show it… and I must see the rest of it.

Yeah, oh, and I’ve got some form of media playback working again. MPlayerC installation has resulted in one working media player. Go Mplayer!

KateWE

Kate's a human mostly built out of spite and overcoming transphobia-racism-and-other-bullshit. Although increasingly right-wing bigots would say otherwise. So she's either a human or a lizard in disguise sent to destroy all of humanity. Either way, it's all good.
