  • Chalk one up for ‘leave it and it goes away’

I got a tax bill last year. Not a huge amount, but enough that I couldn’t instantly pay it. I did what any self respecting person does, I ignored it. It sat in my ‘inbox’ waiting for the month when I had that much spare.

Eventually it got burried by other stuff.

Then I got a new Self Assessment. I filled it in, and moved the original bill back up – “must pay this” I thought.

    And… left it.

And I’d forgotten about it until the brown envelope marked “INLAND REVENUE” arrived. ‘Oh fuckit’ I thought, ‘I’ve still not paid it and they’re pissed off…’. Then I opened it.

I have ‘nothing more to pay’ :-)

    Ra.

Chalk one up for leaving things until they go away.

In other news, I’m actually wearing a skirt – and y’know what, it’s not ‘cos everything’s dirty. Although there are 3 loads of washing (first’s in). I’ve got my remote control car & boat – (the car is one of these! I’ve only ever seen one in real life; and that was in a scrap yard…) – I’ve also found my not-quite-scaletrix (bought from a jumble sale years ago) – which I hope I can clean up and get working for my lil’ nephews.

    What else…?

    Pfer. Oh yes.

I brought back my period 1960’s suitcase, well, it’s my mum’s. Because y’know what. I’m going to Alaska in less than a week! Can y;believe it?! Wooot.

So yes. It’s here. And manky, and old, and smaller than I remember, but probably big enough. So Woot.

’tis time for the grand holiday write up, complete with (lots of) photos.

So, I went to Wales, Snowdon to be more precise, Pen-y-pass to be even more accurate, for the weekend. We took 233 photos, between us. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Anyway, having pruned out the duplicates, the completely blurry, and the awful we were down to a mere 191. Now, having trimmed that down further I’m here to present to you the staggering 28 which I deem to be worthy of my time to lovingly reduce in size, and have selected for your personal delectation. Or whatever.

I’ve even made a panorama, so I just rock.

Anyway, below are 28 photos, shiny for the shinyness and reduced for the downloadingness. I’ve got to be quick, ‘cos otherwise Trey won’t get to put hers up tonight and that’ll make an unhappy Trey bunny.

  • Abandoned Wales

Okay, so these are the abandoned buildings shots from my trip to wales. There were several abandoned cars too, which I wanted to snap, but a navigation error on my part lopped out the important part of the A470 on the way back.

The image quality isn’t great, nor’s the framing to be honest. They’re quickly shot digital camera shots, quite a lot of the shot in heavy rain – some of them got deleted because the rain was so heavy you could barely make out the object being photographed!

    Abandoned Wales
Near Plas Gwynant; I think. Sadly the rain made most of these photos unusable.

  • Which superhero am I?

You scored as Lara Croft. A thrill-seeking, slightly unscrupulous, tough-as-nails archaeologist, Lara Croft travels the world in search of ancient relics perhaps better left hidden. She packs two Colt .45s and has no fear of jumping off buildings, exploring creepy tombs, or taking on evil meglomaniacs bent on world domination.

  • Let me tell you about my day…

    So.

I get up, usually around when Trey gets up (i.e. 6ish), today around 7:30. I make myself some kind of breakfast, unless I’m going swimming, and then I plod round to my PC, because I’m extremely sad and I like to check my mail and read various sites the same way as people read newspapers.

Once I’m done, I plod to the shower, clean myself up, and then head back do drink coffee and maybe consider working.

Then I sit here, ’til lunch, working intermittently.

    Make lunch.

    Do more work.

    Watch telly, wait for Trey.

Isn’t my life a hoot? Anyway, this used to be regularly interspersed with episodes of ‘working’; by which I mean, actually for cold hard money being a Health Care Assistant. This wild excitement brought with it the benefits of actually being able to pay my bills.

  • Tired….so tired….blah

I am still exhausted. Although I did virtually sod-all yesterday, today I went swimming and my aching back and muscles complained bitterly, especially at Filton’s cool pool water. I fought my way up and down doing lengths, each time not certain that I would be able to make the end (and that I might have to dash to the side and rest).

    But it felt good.

What feels less good is sitting here contemplating the Maternity EU pack; again. Or the endless stream of incoming work. I am so tired. All I want to do is sleep.

We watched an episode of Firefly last night; the first episode; it *rocked*. I was, it must be said, frustrated when Dark Angel got cancelled, and they should have kept both on, actually… and to know that they canned firefly too; bah. But anyway, I’ve got a whole season of that to watch :)

    Ra.

    Still want to sleep though.
