“So when you talk about Standing Rock, please begin by acknowledging that this pipeline was redirected from an area where it was most likely to impact white people. And please remind people that our people are struggling to survive the violence of colonization on many fronts, and that people shouldn’t simply engage with or retweet such stories when they see a concrete connection to their own issues — or a jumping off point to discuss their own issues. Our friends, allies and accomplices should be fighting alongside us because they value our humanity and right to live, in addition to whatever else they believe in.”

“Donald Trump refused to pay the bill. He told the caterer, “I know you are new at this, and when you tell people you catered MY wedding, you will get more business than you could ever dream of. So I am doing you a favor. And when I do favors, I don’t pay. End of discussion.”

She couldn’t believe it — she sent numerous bills — ignored. She threatened to sue — he said “Go ahead. I don’t lose in court.” She explored suing, but came away knowing it would cost her high legal bills, and wouldn’t be worth it. After more than six months of his stonewalling she ended up paying her staff out of her own pocket, though couldn’t pay them fully or she’d be out of business. So Trump stiffed not only her, but her staff, her chefs, her busboys.”

    Scam Artist, nothing more

    Scum Artist actually.

Probably one of my favourite things that’s happened this year is when these two girls went on the Australian version of ‘The Bachelor’ to win over a guy named Richie..

    image

and as soon as they met on the show they instantly became friends

    image

they both left the show and started hanging out lots

    and lots

    and lots

    and then that friendship

    turned into a relationship

Just as ‘08 and ‘12 Obama “evolved” on marriage equality, Hillary has recently been “evolving” on issues like TPP, student loans, & BlackLivesMatter.  Not all there yet, but a start.

Trump wants trickle down economics, a reinstatement of stop and frisk, and conservative SCOTUS nominations to reverse our progress. He will not “evolve” for us no matter how much we lobby.

I know we all want and deserve more progress. Many young voters want to sit out unless a candidate has it all. Voter silence is a mistake that will hurt us. Staying home won’t “revolutionize the system.” The system is used to youth voter apathy. They ignore us because we won’t pressure them.

We have to use our voices, vote for the person most likely to listen, & shout & lobby till we achieve our goals. Please. It works. Apathy doesn’t.

#Hillary2016 to protect our progress from Trump. #Hillary2016 so the person we lobby for the next 4 years might actually listen. It does seem like she’s starting to, or we wouldn’t have seen this:

Hhhhh fuck my life, millenials are turning out in low numbers for early votes. I’ve seen several of you that have already voted but please, if you haven’t then go *before* the rush next Tuesday. You will lose less sanity and be less overwhelmed, if people try to bullshit you on ID shit you have more time to get what you need, the lines aren’t so long you can’t get your vote in, it’s all-around a much better experience.

If you don’t like Hillary, hold your nose and pretend it’s Bernie. We need Bernie-level turnout here and even Bernie has said it. Vote Hillary so Bernie has a shot at enacting some serious reform in the Senate. He can do amazing things in the Senate if he’s backed by other Senators and a President that leans liberal.

*gets down on my knees and prays to any gods that can hear me*

If you are in line before your polling place closes, poll workers have to allow you to vote. If you roll up at one minute before your polling place closes and are in line, they *have to* let you vote.

They will take your name down, while you are in line, so they know who showed up before they closed and who didn’t. They’ll use that to authorize you to vote even though technically your polling place is closed.

If there is a poll worker telling you that since your vote wasn’t cast before closing time that you can’t vote, they are impeding upon your right to vote and you have every right to report them for impeding your vote. If you are there before closing time, you can vote. No such thing as lines being too long to vote, so long as you show up at all before closing.

If the 2016 election were in the Wizarding World.

This is truly a thing of beauty.

    Kudos to whomever made this.

  • Today was.

We were definitely going for some kind of adulting / granola lesbian award.

    – Home made pancakes for breakfast (spelt…)
    – Already cleaned the house this weekend…
    – Hardware store for implements of destruction
    – Farmer’s market (just after opening) for our shopping
    – Coffee at a local coffee place
    – Home for lunch (rather than our usual disorganised “oh, we’ll get it at the farmer’s market”…because we were so early)
    – Out to the land and filled in one of the perc holes by hand (most of the way, turns out neither of us is as fit as we remember being)
    – Spent a couple of hours pruning and trimming the route that we want the mini excavator to come in though to dig the new perc holes.

    IMG_20161106_161046

…it may not look like much, but it was hard work and it is where we’re hoping our drive way will run… and I’m torn between “oh my god, we’ve cut down so many tiny bushy things” and “yay! progress!”

    – Then we sat in our Electric SUV, drinking herbal tea, eating home made spelt/citrus loaf and eating nuts and dates… before driving home.

Uh. So yay for us, but also I suspect we can’t get that much more granola. If only we had a Ford Ranger EV, then we’d be totally there.

A More Accurate World Map Wins Prestigious Japanese Design Award

To design a map of the world is no easy task. Because maps represent the spherical Earth in 2D form, they cannot help but be distorted, which is why Greenland and Antarctica usually look far more gigantic than they really are, while Africa appears vastly smaller than its true size. The AuthaGraph World Map tries to correct these issues, showing the world closer to how it actually is in all its spherical glory.
