Good Morning Bristol!

So, I’m trying to drag out not doing anything until I’ve eaten lunch.

This morning I went swimming in my favourite pool. But before leaping, clad only in a thin layer of nylon, into the chlorinated water I was interviewed by BBC Radio Bristol on Morning West. You can hear the whole show, at the moment, in hideous real player format. You’d have to be pretty damn enthusiastic to do that though.

Basically, with Doug Reid, the organiser of the Save Bristol North Pool campaign, and Ms B we tried to explain why the pool is worth saying in about 3 minutes. I’m trying to see if I can extract a copy of the interview but first I actually have to download it. Hurrah for evil applications that do a good impression of RealPlayer.

I’m not really sure where to go on from here. I’ve no idea how you go about campaigning, especially when you’re going to be out of the country in a few weeks, and also you’re really incredibly behind on your degree.

*sigh*

Oooh, maybe it’s stress that’s making my allergies worse. Wouldn’t suprise me.

At any rate, after the swim I headed round doing some more photography. I’m not at all convinced that these ones’ll come out because… well… I forgot my tripod. So I was there with my bloody 200ASA film trying to take shots in the badly lit interior.

The staff were cool again though. They’re so friendly… it’s kinda sad… I’ve got used to the people and the pool… and… Yeah, okay, I’ll shut up.

Anyway, half way round, as I was taking some shots of the Fire exits I was accosted by someone who was distinctly unimpressed by me ‘archiving’ rather than trying to save the place. Thankfully, unlike last time I was there photographing, I was able to say “Actually, I’m trying to save it too”.

The poor camera didn’t like the humidity in there though, not with it being so cold. I actually didn’t think I’d make it for the interview, actually, with Rebecca’s cold starting at the moment being the stuff of nightmareish dream. I’ve so got to adjust the carb.

Especially with Onne visiting from Denmark, and I’ve offered a lift in Rebecca to the MMOC Website Rally, so, yeah, need to get that sorted really!

Anyway, back to the topic. So I also trundled round the local shops getting me poster stuck up. I wish I’d printed more copies, but I need more ink to do that.

People seem to read it though, which is cool. It’s eyecatching enough to get people to read. I wonder if they’ll complain. Anyway, if you want to print your own, it’s here: [JPEG (800K)] (and here’s a 3 Meg PNG).

I very much doubt at this stage we can stop the actual closure on the 23rd; but maybe we can force them to reopen it, or raise awareness sufficently to get it reopened by a private company. It’s wrong though. It should be a community pool.

The only other thing I did this morning (beyond wander throught he farmer’s market drooling to my appointment), was to nip to the post-office and get the wonderfully archaic International Drivers Permit. It’s this fantastic little dirty-grey book with a red crest (Secretary of State for Transport, donchaknow) on the cover which I don’t ‘need’ to drive in the land formerly known as the land of the free, but which might make life a bit less complex. Especially since I look bugger-all like my photo, although more like it when I put my glasses on…

Bleah.

Work, yes. Work, after lunch.

Kate's a human mostly built out of spite and overcoming transphobia-racism-and-other-bullshit. Although increasingly right-wing bigots would say otherwise. So she's either a human or a lizard in disguise sent to destroy all of humanity. Either way, it's all good.
