Remember the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge? It’s actually helping
Scientists informed the Washington Post that some of the $220 million raised globally from the challenge has already gone to good use. “The money came at a critical time” per one researcher and helped fund a Johns Hopkins study that may be just what ALS patients need.
Update: This just got even better. Research funded by the $100 million in Ice Bucket Challenge donations has identified a gene associated with ALS. While the gene isn’t found in all ALS patients, it may lead to the next step in treatment.
Uhm… not to be raining on anyone’s parade, but, here I am, sharing what looks to me a lot like rain.

Nothing normalizes the new quite like seeing it on screen. A culture can change its mind about something almost subconsciously after they just see it in a movie or on TV a few times in something that doesn’t really call attention to it. A Conversation with Paul Feig and Kate McKinnon at Athena Film Festival
No major party, no major party nominee in the history of this nation has ever known less or has been less prepared to deal with our national security.
We cannot elect a man who exploits our fears of ISIS and other terrorists, who has no plan whatsoever to make us safer. A man who embraces the tactics of our enemies, torture, religious intolerance. You all know, all the Republicans know.

PLEASE RE-BLOG
I don’t normally say that? but everyone is talking (shaming people) about how the Congressional elections are SO IMPORTANT – but nobody is educating folks on how to go about it.
HERE IS HOW
Hey kids, don’t forget – it’s not just a presidential election! Keep hitting the polls!!!
AND DO NOT FORGET, MINDS CAN CHANGE OVER TIME. If every vote for the last 15 years was progressive, but in 1994 you find out that your candidate voted against a minimum-wage increase, consider all the evidence. Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater. Have they voted for increases since then? Spoken about income inequality? Politicians are also people (well–most of them, I still think Malevolent Tangerine is a scientific experiment gone horribly wronger), and they can learn and grow too.
OH LOOK INFORMATION ON HOW TO ACTUALLY DO THE THING! :D
Is that the rest of the world has finally got the chance to say to the UK “No, you’re a shitty small country with no real power”. Europe pandered to our whims because having Britain in Europe looked good. And because we were part of Europe – and Europe listened to us – other countries around the world still put up with our shit.
…but now, lots of countries are finally getting the chance to kick the bully while it’s down.
…and all the f’kin racist Brexit politicians are suddenly discovering nobody gives a shit what the 3rd rate little country in the atlantic thinks.
It’s a hideous disaster, but watching their pride in Great Britain’s important position in the world disintegrate is one of the few slightly redeeming features.
