  • I fucking rock

Just in case you didn’t realise. Here; for your delectation and printerification:

MZ – es ist eine lesbische sache

    Trabant / Line art

    Lucas – Prince of Darkness

They’re quite big – being hopefully big enough to print. I can supply ’em in EPS or Corel Xara (1.2) format… if people can cope with that.

  • Teeshirt people…

So, I’ve done some more designs for Tee-shirts (to go with the Whipem Down one) – but I was thinking I would like a more UKy based company.

And also one who do a free shop where you can have more than one design on a tee-shirt. Anyone know of such a place?

  • Riding Chrissy ;-)

Who’d’ve thought it? The huge grin and endorphine rush has re-invigorated me, despite now feeling knackered.

    What from? (more…)

  • Now this is silly…

Okay. I made a mistake. I installed the nVidia drivers which previously worked fine and drove my nVidia TNT2 card just fine. Why? Because DVD playback sucked.

    They made the machine crash.

So, I uninstalled them, rather hopefully expecting the thing to go back to the microsoft supplied windows TNT2 drivers. But no. They’ve now gone.

So now I have no driver.

I have a huge monitor which will now only do very low refresh rates, or 640×480.

This does not bring me the greatest joy.

The new nVidia driver, now that’s cunning. That won’t install at all, saying that my TNT2 card is a banana on a stick, or something equally unhelpful.

    *sigh*

  • Lucky old me…

y’know, I may not have much in the way of spare cash, but I do have something much more important.

    – I’ve got bloody good friends.
    – I’m doing a degree I enjoy to get a job I love
    – I’m living with my partner who is the most fantastic girl in the world :-)
    – I’ve got my little moglet which makes me very happy, even when she breaks
    – I’ve got a motorbike, which may be scattered about the garage in pieces, but when together puts a smile on my face that makes me look like some kind of grinning maniac
    – I’ve got a big green bed that looks way more expensive than it is, and is the kind of bed I always wanted (even if the frame’s starting to bend quite badly!)
    – I live in a nice house with a great housemate
    – They had The Strokes on the radio this morning, and Rachel Stevens, and Jem. How cool is that?!
    – My dad’s old digital monitor is now adorning my desk, and y’know what, it’s big and gorgeous quality. I think it might even be a trinitron tube. Uh hu. And it’s got my BNFL Mutant Fluffie and my British Aerospace fluffy on top (feel free to send me cute and interesting fluffies)
    – I’ve found a huge bunch of papers for my dissertation. So yes, it is going to be on “Does sexuality influence the quality of healthcare received?”
    – I’ve got half a grapefruit and a cup of some-kind-of-fruit tea on my desk (why are they all purple? That’s what I don’t understand!)
    – I went swimming this morning in an Edwardian Pool, and didn’t swallow half the water :-)
    – The world is, verily, a good place today

  • Spin little disky

    So, I’m waiting…

When I get home today (I’ve got a big list of papers to get from uni; fortunately I printed it, rather than just leaving it on the PC) I’m going to work my way through the disks, leaving them in my poor & beloved K6-II for a period of time to see if the burning smell was the failed capacitors on my motherboard and power supply or if it was a drive failing.

I’m *desparately* hoping it wasn’t my drive failing.

  • Mmm, tasty brown goo.

So, there are levels of not-going-well for a week.

Missing my lecture because I got drenched, that wasn’t particularly good.
Having the alternator fail on my car, that wasn’t particularly good either.
Having the new drive arrive from Scan and singularly fail to work? That also didn’t fill me with joy.
Trey missing her riding lesson because of screwed up public transport, again not brilliant.
My PC deciding to let out the magic scent of burning silicon last night? That again wasn’t great.

The new powersupply sourced this morning (which meant that Trey had to take public transport to her lesson…) looked to have cured the problem. Indeed I was feeling somewhat ‘stupid’… (more…)

  • Bollocks to Valeo

    Alternator = Sick.

10 year old rusty and rough Lucas LRA100? That’s in and working for the time being. Not sure how long it’ll last though. Possibly forever, or alternatively not very long at all.

    I hate alternators.

  • Doing so well…

So, I had this plan today: Swim, Clean, Fix car, Lunch, Shower, Work.
It was slightly modifyable by when the DVD+-R/W/RW/Z/Q/R/an/do/m/L/e/tte/r/s drive arrived, to include ‘fit new drive’.

  • Herbie (Fully Loaded)

So, I finally got around to watching Herbie Fully Loaded; I know, I’m incredibly sad. I’ve loved Herbie films ever since watching Herbie, The Love Bug countless times at Primary School (where they had a copy of it on 16mm film and it was shown at least once a year).

I’ve always had this kind of… mechanical sympathy. Just watch me wandering round scrap yards; there’s a kind of bizzare reverance in my head, a respect for these vehicles, don’t ask me why. Maybe they have a soul…

Or indeed, watch me stroke the ‘hump’ on my beloved Rebecca.

Anyway, back to the film. [spoilers, but none you’d not guess]
