Kate’s allegedly a human (although increasingly right-wing bigots would say otherwise). She’s definitely not a vampire, despite what some other people claim. She’s also mostly built out of spite and overcoming oppositional-sexism, racism, and other random bullshit.

So she’s either a human or a lizard in disguise sent to destroy all of humanity.

Either way, she’s here to reassure that it’s all fine.

  • Ignoring the urge

At some moments I want to cut corners. I want to get the house finished and done and ready for the market and so we can actually just sit and enjoy it for 5 minutes before we go. But I’m not very good at that. It’s more that I opt not to do a job…

  • Side Effects

As a side effect of our friends running point on the whole moving to the US thing, we discovered today that apparently the Visa and the ‘Green Card’ are not, actually, provided at the same time. Foolishly I’d believed that when we got to the states it would be with both a means to get…

  • I have a total guilt complex

No matter that I was awake for 25 hours before I went to bed for 2 hours. No matter that I worked hard last night. No matter that my job is emotionally draining. I still feel insanely guilty that I’m not working on the house / prepping for the NCLEX / etc today.

  • Evil

I lent a friend a copy of the first season of Orphan Black. She is now hooked. My work here is done.

  • Happy 4th!

Incidentally, to all you USians out there.

  • Okay google

So, on my OnePlus One, “OK Google” is a bit flakey. It seems to work best if I sound slightly exasperated (which may relate to how I sounded by the time I’d trained it), and is waaay more reliable if the phone is unlocked. “OK OnePlus” which is meant to unlock it is hilariously useless,…

  • Neti Pots, sunlight, and irritating training times

I imagine whoever came up with the 1030am – 1245 training concept works somewhere not-ER based. I say this because the chances of me ‘just nipping out’ for 2 hours of training on a work day are so laughably minimal that they don’t even bear considering. So instead I scheduled my mandatory training for a…

  • ‘s odd

So we’re starting to approach, with at least some semblance of it being real, the point when the house is, for all practical purposes ‘finished’. The List is looking better; much more manageable. And I was contemplating things and had a moment of “Oh my god, what am I going to do when it’s finished,…

  • Random Awesome

So, there I was in the garage trying (unsuccessfully) to find the puncture repair kit. Or at least, I found the old kit – but it’s lacking any of the rubber softening gunk, and I couldn’t find the new kit that’s around ‘somewhere’. So after the rain had let up I made my way back…

  • Benefits of breakage

Well, I’m not sure if it’s exactly a benefit. But hey. I’ve needed to tile the floor in the laundry / server room for a long time and avoided it for (at least) two reasons: I’d have to move the washing machine. The floor is unlevel and I’d been debating making it level(er).
