Something for the weekend?

Having spent much of Friday morning ringing different companies all around the UK going “Brake servo for an HC Viva”, a local company came up trumps with a brand new boxed (‘new old stock’ or NOS, as it’s called) servo. It should begin it’s journey from the other side of the town we live in to our house today; once it’s here then brick can head back to the garage and have it fitted (woo!). However, I am starting to think I really should do the ‘creation of the electric classic’, so I shall probably buy the domain name I’ve been considering and if my webhosting company get their arse in gear, I’ll get more hosting space, and lo I shall be off.

At any rate, the brakes were considered to be safe – if somewhat unsmooth in application – so off we went to my friend’s wedding. Somewhat of a late decision to attend, but they seemed *really* pleased to see us; and it was a beautiful reception; loads of kids playing happily, nice food, good music, good company :)

It is my first lesbian wedding – and the brides looked beautiful :)

And I got an excuse to wear my silly strappy shoes :)

Unfortunately, we were both knackered, and it was over an hour’s drive away so we ended up heading home about half 10, not getting home ’til 12 which meant that we were a little slow getting up Saturday to head to Brizzle.

Brizzle of course being home to the illustrious Nikki and Kate, who were in the throws of moving. Having obtained a shiny house, they wanted their stuff in it (and due to much insanity their piano from their 1st floor coach house where they were, to the first floor of their new house). Amazingly, and somewhat knackeringly, the piano was hauled down the stairs of their rented accomodation leaving only one huge gouge in the wall and up the stairs of their new house (vertically) with no gouges in the wall. Took 6 people though. Also amazingly, having arrived it not only still worked, but still sounded not awful :)

Because they are insane, much of their furniture was placed upstairs; and whilst we left them with still a fair amount of trips in the van (with small boxen), all their big / heavy stuff was moved, all their books (more or less), all their car-parts (from Nikki’s Morris Minor), and their many pushbikes were cajoled, lugged, squeezed and tetris’d into place in the new house (which has a half-size garage and although more space over-all is much differently organised). They in turn treated us to kebabs, subways, pancakes, donuts and fine coffee. We also made whimpering noises when we visited the Sainsbury’s that used to be my local one – soooo many ciders. Just in sainsburys. Imagine the range in a proper wine shop. I noted that the Sainsburys in Bristol that was previously mine still appeared to be suffering from it’s continual shortage of stock. Something which I always found somewhat tedious – having your shopping for the week not controlled by what was in season, nor what was desired, but instead by what their crap stock control system could manage to yeild.

Anyhow, we got them more or less moved and headed back home – Brick impressively racking up the miles – however he’s gained an earth fault and the brake/tail lights are being a little ‘quirky’. Oh, and his heater still produces no heat at all (unless you sit stationary). I’m wondering if the thing is set up to flow backwards, and so isn’t getting hot – I need to get out there and look at them today, but there’s a problem. It’s fracking FREEZING here.

After an hour (having dropped Kathryn off) at 10 past 7 and driven home; the lounge has moved from ice-cold to faintly warm. I’m trying to get the will power to step in the shower, which should be easier when I concentrate on the fact that I need to get the grouting finished, because finished grouting == radiator being able to be fitted. Radiator fitted == ready to do temporary kitchen. Temporary kitchen == call in guy to fit heating.

Close, y’see.

But it’s cold, and I’m tired, and I have no desire to move…

Kate's allegedly a human (although increasingly right-wing bigots would say otherwise). She's definitely not a vampire, despite what some other people claim. She's also mostly built out of spite and overcoming oppositional-sexism, racism, and other random bullshit. So she's either a human or a lizard in disguise sent to destroy all of humanity. Either way, she's here to reassure that it's all fine.
