  • Demolishing my sleep

    Tonight I’m on a night shift. I think I’m in charge of the department, iirc. Unfortunately, having been awake 25 hours when I got home this morning (after yesterday’s night shift), I found the builders next door merrily hammering away at something.

    At 26 hours of awake I finally managed to get to sleep… for 5 and a half hours.

    I’m exhausted sitting on the couch watching TV, now I’ve got to cycle 4 miles then work for 12.

    Remind me again how much I love my job, and how my remuneration is totally acceptable for knocking a probably 10-15 years off my lifespan.

  • NaNoWriYr?

    So my NaNoWriMo entry which I keep poking at and which is now an awesome 24681 words long (so close to half way!). I had an urge to stick the stats in to the NaNoWriMo graph (because it looks so sad, the way it flatlined at the end of the month) and then I found out that you can’t… It really is NaNoWriMo, and they won’t let you tweak it after.

    Oh such sadness.

    I might have to try shades creativity spreadsheet, as part of my policy of trying to poke me into creativity.

    On the plus side, words.

  • For the Electric Minor Project I’ve bought a little cheap digital voice recorder. The idea being that I could use it to, say, interview people who work with us. Or to record audio when I’m doing multi-camera angle stuff. Mainly I bought it because it was cheaper to buy it with a free tie-clip mike than it was to buy a tie-clip mike. It may be a very shonky tie-clip mike.

    It came with these, and I use the word perhaps inappropriately, instructions.

    All I have achieved so far is recordings of me wailing “But what does it mean! What does any of it mean!” accompanied by the clicking of buttons in the background.

    A while back I declaimed “As happy as a goat with new socks”, a phrase that startled even me with its genius.
