Stuff directly related to my Beloved Moggie Minor

  • It’s good to talk

So, I spent an hour and a bit with my councellor today. I feel so much better; apparently it is just ‘good to talk’. Got another appointment next week. I’m slightly disappointed that it’s only a 6 week thing, I feel like I could do with this kind of freedom to talk about anything for the whole of my life!

    Yeah.

    So that rocked.

And I got some history for Rebecca, one of her past owners e-mailed me with a bit of her history. She was owned by a spinster in the past; how appropriate is that? Apparently, when I got her the 60,000 miles might actually have been about accurate! It’s so nice to have a bit of history behind my car. She’s got some history; she’s not just my random blue minor now. She’s got a past, a present and a future :-)

  • If you listen hard enough you’ll hear the sound of nothing breaking

I’ve serviced Rebecca, usual list of things; well, rather excessive paranoid list of things I do every service – I’m going to drop changing the gearbox oil every 3k, I only did it ‘cos I had the oil lying around (each can contains marginally more than I need for a service) – and it’s coming out clean; uncontaminated and still lubricatey; so I think it’s a bit of a waste.

Okay, it’s only a litre or so, but still. Save them up and eventually I’ll have enough to fill the engine :-)

Uh, yeah. But it’s set in motion the standard paranoia of “did I do that up tight enough”; so for the next few hundred miles I will respond like a startled rabbit to every little noise! On the plus side; she’s sounding so much sweeter; and I’ve eliminated the gearbox steady cable in my search for the cause of the judder. Having adjusted it I’ve found that it had absolutely no effect whatsoever.

  • It Fits

Dashboard [partially] fitted [oil pressure gauge and clock not connected]. Await news on whether it all works…. and the video.

  • It’s all ready! No fair!

Nyargh! It’s ready. It’s ready but it’s too late and it’ll get dark and I’ll be left without a car tomorrow if I try to fit it and and and and AAaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

I’ve waited so long for this and worked so hard and and and I WANT TO SEE IT ALL TOGETHER ON THE CAR DAMNIT!

    NYARGH!

Excited and I can’t do a damn thing about it.

So here. Here is a photo. Look and admire. Praise me, for I rock.

  • Exit tree stage left.

    I just said yes.

    I said yes.

    I must be mad. Madder’n a chocolate teapot. Madder’n a lorry.

For goodness sake! I am soon to be the proud (sic) owner of a Morris Minor Series II.

What tree am I meant to be in again?

In other news my placement for university appear unaware that I’ll be attending, and the woman I’m meant to be on placement with has been off sick for [a long time]. Woo! Go Uni!

  • Frustratingly unsuccessful

Plans for this weekend: …. (more…)

  • Parts list

So, with my dashboard nearing the stage where I can spray it ready for fitting, I’ve ordered the heated rear window kit (and a locking fuel cap for reasons I’m unlikely to go into here).

I’m getting quite excited. Just wish it’d stop raining!

  • The problem with compressors

….is that they open up a whole *new* section of tool shops to look at and go “oooh, that’s cool”.

My, an air impact wrench, I just need one of them…

…and a sand blaster; how handy.

    Heh.

Got a doojit, a thing for my dashboard. Stay tuned for more info.

  • I’m about this far from….

    …owning another moggie.

Split Screen, Series II, 803cc, crap gearbox, export version, dirty grey morris minor.

    Help?

Actually, I’ve thought about this a lot, discussed it almost endlessly with my housemate, my friends, etc, and I think the car is within the bounds of my abilities; just about; if I have some help. Of course, this means clearing the garage…..

  • Keep on runnin’

    So,

Today I’ve: rewashed some areas of the carpet which didn’t come up particularly well; by using the carpet shampoo at a ratio of 50:50 instead of 1:10 we found it to be quite effective, although the bottles run out a bit quickly; I’ve been to Bath to drop of Rebecca to have remedial work done on areas that got missed; driven back in a much earlier minor which has no frigging seatbelts!; written the speil for the auctions, hoovered upstairs and the stairs, made a bit of video for my forthcoming thing about moggies and uh been running.

    So yeah, still doing it!

And apparently, Rebecca will be finished later today with a view to returning her to my grubby little paws tomorrow morning :-)
