Watch: Black family stands up to racist couple at San Antonio restaurant

From the article: “The teen has a point. Her courage to confront the ugliness of racism, with a camera in hand, reveals just how rampant bigotry and anti-blackness is in America society. Within the five minutes of vulgar obscenities and racist remarks shouted at the black family, no one intervened. No one got up from the seats. No one told the white family to refrain from using the word n*gger. No one defended the black family. No one said it was enough.

It’s 2016, and a black family in one of the many diverse cities in Texas can’t even sit down and enjoy a meal in peace without being called anti-black slurs.”

This was a 15-year-old girl, and she’s right. This is NOT rare. This irrational hate permeates far too much of society and police forces around America. The only difference between Facebook racists and these white “people” is they were so full of hatred that they didn’t feel the need to hide their racism behind a keyboard.

Also, yes: “All lives matter” is exactly what racists say.

    Does anyone know their names?

This country is everything it tells every other country it hates.

And that’s the textbook definition of transference. A staple ingredient of racism. Racial projection is often used to justify imperialism & neoliberalism.

tf.. like we said “yes, white man take me and my people to a far land I’ve never seen.” I’m sure life in some parts are Africa are far better foe our hated ass than here with these pricks.

“JUST MARRIED,” Fernando, seated, and his husband, both members of Los Angeles’ Blue Max Motorcycle Club, get pulled over as they leave their wedding ceremony, December 1969. Photo c/o @onearchives. In the mid-twentieth century, the Blue Max Motorcycle Club, along with many other gay motorcycle clubs, provided an alternative to gay bars, which were constantly at risk of police raids and harassment. #lgbthistory #lgbtherstory #lgbttheirstory #lgbtpride #queerhistorymatters #haveprideinhistory (at Los Angeles, California)

fun fact: motorcycle clubs in the U.S. were founded and run largely by gay men who missed the homosocial camaraderie of being in the U.S. military during WWII. the lifestyle and aesthetics of those motorcycle clubs gave rise to many of the stereotypical/classic gay “looks” (leather, chaps, etc) and indeed to the gay leather scene itself (both the gay male leather/biker scene and the lesbian/dykes on bikes leather/biker scene)

you know how i bug you to register to vote and then vote and it’s really super-annoying? well the republican party platform is rolling out and it includes a 100% ban on abortions and revocation of same-sex marriage and no background check for guns and oh yes also conversion therapy for LGBTQ+ people so yeah me bugging you is not going to change sorry not sorry please register to vote and then vote?

Other “highlights”, per the New York Times:

    • military women barred from combat
    • coal considered “clean” energy
    • pornography declared public menace
    • religion (read: Christianity) must be used as guide for legislation
    • teaching the bible in public schools
    • building a wall along the Mexican border like Trump wants

Reblogging for the NYT article link, and also this one from OccupyDemocrats. Your vote matters so much.

Please vote and please don’t be complacent. So very not good polling numbers for Clinton came out this morning, and in general I think polling is going to consistently undercount support for Trump (hi, I look at data regarding the election as part of my day job, I am not just talking out of my ass). Vote. Even if you think your state is “safe.” And please learn about your local down-ticket races, because that’s where the policy that affects your daily life happens.

If this passes, it will set our country back DECADES. Reblog so everyone can see and then vote in November.

Vote. Register to vote if you haven’t. If you’re registered, find out if your state’s requirements have changed so you don’t turn up at the poll with no picture ID or whatever they need. Don’t drive? Find out how to get a non-driving state ID. If you’re going away to school, find out NOW how to get an absentee ballot, then do it when the time comes. If you’re moving, make the time to register in your new town. Need help? Your state’s election commission should have a web site, ask the staff at your local library (really!) or the League of Women Voters can hook you up. Register. Vote.

The official position of the Republican Party is that 1.4 million transgender Americans should be forced to use restrooms that do not match their authentic gender expression. The official position of the Republican Party is to put 1.4 million Americans at risk of arrest, imprisonment, psychological harm, and physical/sexual assault EVERY TIME THEY USE A PUBLIC RESTROOM.

If you vote Republican, you are actively supporting the oppression and dehumanization of 1.4 million of your fellow Americans.

If you FAIL TO VOTE DEMOCRATIC? You’re doing the same thing, but passively. Yay?

Register. Vote. Win. Be on the right side of history.
