THIS IS A PSA TO ANYONE PLANNING TO SEE THE MOVIE “SAUSAGE PARTY” (no spoilers)
i saw this movie with my friend tonight. from the beginning it didn’t seem like the type of movie that i’d like, sorta crude/dirty jokes. i assumed it’d be kinda like how family guy is. but it was my friends birthday and it had gotten pretty good reviews on rotten tomato so we figured why not.
this movie is absolutely disgusting. being a new release the theater was initially pretty crowded, but well over half the audience had left by the end of the movie (which lasts only 90 minutes). from the beginning there was a whole lot of unnecessary profanity (trying to be funny but not succeeding) and also a lot of sexual innuendos, both of which i expected. everything got worse and worse over the course of the movie.
i’ve been trying to figure out how to word this but there’s just so much that happened i’m going to make a list of all the things this 90 minute animation about talking food included:
? a violent rape scene (multiple).
? drug abuse (various types of drugs, and lots of them)
? gore (not the food type, there was also bloody human gore)
? racism / sexism / homophobia
? towards the end of the movie there is a huge sex scene. i can’t say that it’s graphic because it’s animated food but i honestly can’t believe it’s not X rated.
? • about half of the remaining audience left the theatre during this scene
? needless to say, everything was also very violentby the end of the movie there was less than ¼ of the original audience left. i’m pretty sure those of us that remained were only there out of either stubbornness or that (as in my case) they were just too horrified to move. if you still want to see this movie after reading this, i wish you the best of luck, and i’m sure some people out there will enjoy it. for the rest of us, if you’re triggered or upset by anything in the above list, i would highly discourage you from seeing this movie.
~ please message me for any specifics bc i’m keeping this post spoiler-free ~

Watch: Anti-racism activist Tim Wise traces the historical context of Donald Trump’s use of race
The culture we make now is rooted in yesterday. Not just the day before today, but all the yesterdays that preceded it. History, timeworn practice, bullshit repeated over and over until it becomes what Colbert calls ‘truthiness’ – those things have brought us here. It IS our job, as sentient, self-aware beings, to fight that.

robin williams was rad as hell..
I’m still fucking devastated about this.
Same. I’ll never get over it and nothing has been the same since.
sigh
Just want to point out that Christopher Reeve was considering suicide before Robin Williams showed up. He didn’t just make him laugh, he saved Reeve’s life.
Also, he paid for Reeve’s medical bills from the accident.
*stillgrosssobbingoverthis*
I will never get past his death.
crying
Yeah, I’m still not over this

the other night i tried to make a curry and i got chilli burns all over my face, so i thought to myself ‘hang on, doesn’t milk soothe chilli burns? it does’ and i couldn’t google because i couldn’t see so i just had to blindly feel my way to the fridge and pour out a bowl of milk, and then plant my face in the bowl of milk, anyway at that point the rice cooker went off and triggered a power surge which turned my electricity off, which i didn’t notice at first because i had my face in a bowl of milk and when i did emerge from the dairy prison i thought i had gone blind with chilli burns. so no i don’t really cook much.

“communist countries have propaganda everywhere!!” meanwhile in the us there’s an american flag within every square mile, kids pledge their allegiance to that flag every day at school, and the us military attempts to recruit people before theyve reached the age of 13
i told my dad about the pledge of allegiance and he said this sort of shit wouldn’t fly even at his old school and he did kinda grow up in communist poland so like
and in texas we have a SECOND pledge we have to say every morning because we also need to pledge to the flag of texas (just in case we secede again)
wait what the fuck texas
1. WTF Texas.
2. You do NOT have to say the pledge of Allegiance in school, but most teachers won’t tell you that and some teachers don’t even know or believe it, which means you can face school-level repercussions for exercising your right to not publicly buy into this bullshit.
(I’ve sat it out since middle school and was only ever reprimanded by substitutes that I can recall, not my actual teachers, and it never went all the way to the office or detention. But hey, known good-student well-spoken middle class white girl whose dad is a lawyer. I never had a reason to really worry.)
(Also in high school we were supposed to say it during first period, which was orchestra, and the orchestra teacher hated anything that wasted music time and learned how to turn the intercom off so we could all avoid it, lol).
I had kind of forgotten about the pledge by the time I got to the point in my teacher education program in college where we went out to actually get some classroom experience, and seeing that when you’re not habituated to it is creepy as hell.
