The director of “Bridesmaids,” “Spy” and the upcoming “Ghostbusters” remake says he would add an equity clause to his future film contracts that requires gender-balanced casting of minor roles.
I have done many things today: Helped a friend edit the script for her show, made bread, started my sourdough, been to the shops. However, after 4 fruitless hours of beating my computer with a stick I pronounce this motherboard a fracking useless pile of shit.
It’s always been unreliable when asked to move large quantities of data, but now it falls over reliably, within a few moments of being tasked. This means that I need to replace it.
I’m sorely (*sorely*) tempted to replace the case as well.
In answer to all the annoying gimboids who say that mv deletes files as it goes, even if copying across drives or file systems – no, it doesn’t. At least, not on my system. It copies, then deletes. Which is a frigging pain in the arse because my system is 99% full, so there’s insufficient space for it to do that.
Then it falls over.
Which is the best outcome so far. Given the Gigabyte board’s general unreliability, it’s either that or it reboots randomly in the middle of doing it.
Clearly I wasn’t concentrating hard enough on keeping the media server up, because it crashed in the middle of moving a bunch of files. And now I have this fucking horrific mess of directories where one has some files and the other has some files, and mv is throwing a tantrum.
