What about Bernie Sanders do you not like?

He’s just pretty trash overall, even if I might agree with him on some things. His entire campaign keeps people who WOULD be radicals from grassroots organizing by directing grassroots efforts to some shitty presidential election.

I don’t care if you vote for him, I don’t care if you think he’s the lesser of evils, he’s still a part of the same corrupt system, and when it comes down to it I think he will be the enemy of the people if we ever tried to implement an alternative system, such as one based around direct action and mutual aid rather than property and surplus value.

seaweedtheanarchist Hey there! Most of the claims you are making are false :) Especially about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He voted against both of those and he has always fought to give veterans social support after they come home from war. He’s been a huge proponent of Black Rights, Racial Justice, and LGBTQ rights for his entire life. I think many of the concerns you expressed are valid and important to discuss. But I don’t see a source for many of your claims.

Also, the reason he is running as a Democrat is because independent candidates never get enough support to make it past the primaries as explained here.

Not trying to convince you to vote for him (although I would love it if you did!), but I want to clear up misinformation. Let me know if there is anything you want to talk about.

I only clicked on the first link and found that OP’s description is completely wrong and does not coincide with the actual content of the article. But it is likely that you know a significant amount of tumblr users will glance at this post w/o their own research or even clicking the links and just accept it at face value (which is a damn shame).

I can’t and won’t take anything an anarchist has to say about politics seriously but I will surely do more of my own research on all candidates. Bernie thus far seems to be the lesser of all evils running to be president.

The Human Rights Campaign actually gave Bernie Sanders it’s highest possible rating, so your argument about him not supporting the trans community is invalid.

Sanders has ALWAYS been anti-war and plans to immediately withdraw our troops, if he is elected president. Please get your facts straight.

    Ya’ll tried. Gold rhombus.

    Man, gotta love misleading sources…

    • First link, alleging that Sanders opposes open borders because he’s nationalist scum who thinks immigrants hurt American jobs. Actual content of the article, Sanders opposed a specific open borders policy that would exploit migrant workers.
    • Second link, alleging that Sanders voted to extradite Assata Shakur. This is true, but ignores the fact that the vote was an exercise in deception (it was slipped into the accelerated suspension calendar, which is supposed to be reserved for non-controversial bills like naming federal buildings), and many of the unanimous votes in favor of the bill realized after the expedited vote that they had been tricked into voting in favor.
    • Third link, alleging that Sanders supported Clinton’s bombing of Kosovo. Actual voting record shows that he voted in opposition (or rather, voted YES to disallowing military action).
    • Fourth link, alleging that Sanders supports Israeli genocide of Palestinians. As evidence, points to a non-binding resolution that would affirm that the US believes that Israel has a right to defend itself. The biggest legitimate criticism is that Sanders has failed to act in opposition to Israel’s actions against Palestine. Again, a legitimate concern, but very different from the allegation that he actively supports Israel’s actions.
    • Fifth link (sixth point, but the only other point with a link), alleging that Sanders voted to have food stamps cut. Actual vote in question is the 2014 farm bill, which Sanders begrudgingly voted on favor of, but only after the SNAP cuts were dropped from a $40 billion cut to a $8.6 billion cut. Also worth noting that the farm bill contained substantially more material than just SNAP cuts, and those other things were ultimately why Sanders voted in favor.
    • No other point is sourced, and others have provided sources proving them false.

Don’t want to support a politician? Fine, don’t support them. But I hope you’ll choose who you vote for based on legitimate things, not half-truths and whole lies.

  • A+ Adulting (to steal a phrase)

So today I set a list of things to do, and incredibly exceeded it. I got onto optional items, and even nearly finished several of them.

Main tasks were dull things like ‘cleaning the kitchen’ and ‘checking every single remaining box to see if anything’s broken’. Amazingly it’s looking pretty good. I may extract my valve radio and just check it’s okay, although it was pretty well packed in there so I’m fairly inclined to leave it where it is.

I had great fun (sarcasm may be noted) extracting each glass and ceramic item, checking them and re-wrapping them. Then writing on each box the actual contents, as opposed to the cryptic and often inaccurate descriptions from the movers. Now ‘K-Ware’ has more helpful things like ‘Ceramic Bakeware’ and ‘Spoons’ on it. Other boxes have comments like ‘health files, electronics tools’. Which is handy, because one of the things I was looking for is my vaccination records, which (ta-da) I found today. Yay.

That was another of the ‘must’ tasks.

Then, having completed the ‘must’ tasks I got on to fun things. Like ruining the turntable mat for my SL-6 Turntable. I’ve (broadly) got the turntable working, speeds are pretty close to correct (although a strobe would be handy*), but it came without a turntable mat and it turns out the SL-6 requires an ultra-thin rubber mat. I foolishly picked up some random-mat from another technics deck which is way too thick and causes the record to clip the internals of the case (it has really little clearance). I’ve tried hacking the strengtheny bits off it (since I’d already ruined it to make it fit the center hole), but I still need to do more. I shall continue my hackery later, but it’s an improvement. I can now at least play some records, and I can now hear that there’s a dirty connector somewhere in the headshell/tracking mechanism.

It’s kinda tempting to see if there’s anywhere around here that’s a proper turntable servicing place, because now it’s more-or-less working, a little going over would probably make it into a lovely piece of kit.

Next I attacked the speedo in the Minor. Its been hideously inaccurate since JLH replaced the diff and gearbox, and indeed the indicator needle was more, kind of ornamental. After much time with an excel spreadsheet I came to the conclusion that the 780tpm speedo guts I had would be pretty good for the setup I’ve got. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty close and as long as I set it correctly around town (25-35mph), it should read accurately enough for any speed I’ll be doing.

    IMG_20160207_162759

Irritatingly, though, I reassembled it with the needle not quite in the right place. A quick test revealed it’s about 5mph out across the range, so I’ll have to take it back out of the car on my next day off. Since I’m still waiting for the customs documentation to appear, I can’t title her at the moment anyway, so I’m a bit unclear on the deal with driving her. The nice email from the DOL says I can drive her for 30 days, but that does presume I’ve got the documentation with me. Which I haven’t. When I at least know where the documentation is, I might feel a bit better…

    Still, productive, all in all.

    * But with my laser** tacho I get 33.4 and 44.9 rpm, which is pretty good
    ** Laaaaaaser.

President Cruz would repeal all of Obama’s executive orders. Including all of the ones that expanded the rights of people. Rubio has pledged to do the same. The fact that so many people are willing to vote Republican is frightening enough… but Sanders supporters who say they’ll “never vote for Hillary” are willing to sacrifice people like me to maintain their own sense of moral superiority.

I feel the same way with many of the Hillary supporters that I know who say they will vote for Trump before they vote for Sanders. :(

This is the first I’ve heard of anything like that. What could possibly be their argument?

Their logic is mainly flawed, but much of it stems around Bernie pushing for single payer health care and affordable secondary school. They seem to think these things are unachievable pipe dreams of a lunatic. They threaten to vote for someone who would set the entire country back like Trump or Cruz if Bernie is nominated. Honestly, I think most of it comes from being butt hurt that Hillary isn’t the guaranteed nominee that they tried forcing on us. Personally, I would gladly vote for her but my preferred candidate is Bernie. I guess that makes me a reasonable person. *shrugs*

Anyone threatening to vote for Trump if Clinton isn’t the Democratic nominee is a) probably lying and b) definitely an asshole.

Yep. I’d love to see Sanders make it in, and I’m voting for him if there’s still any chance by the time the Primaries roll around here, but I’ll vote for Clinton in a heartbeat over anyone the GOP has put forward.

    Well said.

    JK BrownTurns Scrap
    Metal Into Incredible Animals

    Etsy | Facebook

    Today we want to show
you really amazing sculptures made from metal by JK Brown. “I live in
rural West Wales. This peaceful part of the country is known for being a
precious habitat for its native wildlife, which is of constant
inspiration to me. For as long as I can remember I have loved to watch
animals (especially in the wild) and for as long as I can remember I
have been drawing, making and creating as a way of celebrating the
beauty of nature. Often when I’m out walking I pick up fragments of
metal that have been thrown away. Sometimes fly-tipped or washed up on
beaches, I patiently reassemble these pieces into monuments to the
natural world around me: a habitat that is becoming increasingly
fragmented. I find that my own process of reversing this fragmentation
is, for me, a calming antidote to the madness of endless consumption.”  Source: beautifullife
