Yes, yes, I gave in. We went to a computer show and I now have a shiny new Hansol 710P monitor. Mmmm.

I know I shouldn’t have, and I’m really far to broke to go buying these things but the little 15″ monitor was beginning to get on my nerves. Now we have a decent refresh rate and a decent size screen – which is nice. So.

Yes.

And I don’t feel terribly guilty.

It’s got that “nice new equipment” smell to it.

Okay, so I do feel horribly guilty – but once again my machine is actually back up to “nice”. For a 300 quid, 3 year old PC it’s not doing to badly. Okay, so it’s not the quickest thing off the mark – a 400MHz K6-2 – but it’s certainly fast enough for what I use it for (serving webpages, e-mail, webbrowsing, music playing). It’ll even *almost* do software DVD playing – it’ll almost do it under windows (if I reinstalled it), and it’ll almost do it under Linux :-)

Of course, I’ve just realised this means my computers page is out of date again. Never mind.

Yes.

Anyway, tomorrow is my bike test – and as you might have guessed I’m horribly nervous about it. I keep reminding myself that Carol felt I was good enough to pass when I stopped riding on Friday – so I should be able to get up to scratch on Monday without too much trouble.

I’m still terrified.

Gah.

I hate exams.

I hate all exams. I’m actually feeling that stressy-sick that I tend to feel – which has been washing over me now and then since I booked the test (you know, think about test, wave of nausea). I’m also feeling fairly hormonal – you know that “doesn’t play well with others” bit of the month – which is not really the optimum state to be in for a test. One of my main problems with the bike test is I make one mistake and then I get stressed by that – and ride along berating myself for my mistake which means I’m not concentrating as hard as I should be and then I make another mistake.

Grrr.

I’m very carefully trying to *not* let that happen this time. There was a time, while we were practicing where I was going round and round and round this one block, and I kept *repeatedly* fucking up this one junction – and I was getting more and more pissed off with myself – culminating in me starting to curse myself – which until I managed to just forget about it and concentrate on not making the mistake (which is related to 7 years of driving a car…) I kept making.

Anyway.

And now I can say, I can see why the 4 stroke bikes are better test bikes – but I wouldn’t *ever* want to have to use a 4 stroke 125 as my only bike.

Well, I’d consider the MZ RT125, but apart from that.

Anyway. Convincing myself that I will pass seems like a good idea.

I need to go and get some peat-substitute for the garden. We have several million plants which need planting. Yes, I really *am* doing gardening, and you’ll soon be able to relive the highs and lows of my gardening experience when I get some photos developed ;-)

Anyway. That’s it.
