So, I just tried to order Pizza. Not a particularly complex operation you might think, but no. It took Eleven minutes to order 3 pizzas. I’ll grant we did make it more complex by having to split the order into two parts so we could have the two special offers. But still. 11 minutes. Three pizzas. That’s more than 3 minutes per pizza….

Gah :-)

So, here’s an actually recent picture of me – thanks to peter:
the picture is here.

And, in other news. If anyone knows the whereabouts of HCCS Associates (makers of the HCCS Vision Digitiser card) then it’d be convenient if someone could tell me where they are. Or if someone has a module for RISC OS that you can tell where the podule is (rather than having it trying to identify it) and that runs on a StrongARM – well, that’d be even more handy…

Otherwise, no webcam folks….

I’ve been feeling oddly detached from the world for the last few days – there’s periods where I feel connected – but most of the time I’m just sailing along feeling like stuff isn’t going to affect me. It’s very strange.

And a bit worrying. But again, without any really feeling of connectedness between the worry and me.

On the keeping me amused front there’s Mil’s apology homepage – the section you’re really after is the “Things my girlfriend and I have argued about”…yes, I know it’s old news, in fact I’ve probably mentioned it before, but I decided to read it again… and there’s also celestia which rocks.

So…we have the new wheels on, and the front one has a Bridgestone tyre which goes “Ah yes, I’m sticking, sticking, sticking, sticking, yes, sticking, and oh, yes sticking” and we have the back wheel which has whatever tyre was on it when it arrived which goes “Aaaarrrghh! Help! Help! Corners! Eeeep! Nooo!”

This makes riding somewhat “interesting” :-)

So, I went to swap the front wheel for the cast front wheel on which I’ve spent such a vast amount of money. Does it fit? No. This is because for no readily explicable Kanuni have changed the size of a spacer.

Which Burwin didn’t know, and can’t check until tomorrow.

So I can’t put the new front wheel with the nice tyre on.

And I’m not too convinced by the other, original wheel bearings. So I’m feeling rather wary about riding said object, which is rather a shame because I wanted to go out tonight :-(

So, I finally got around to putting my old motorbike up for sale (well, actually advertising it as opposed to just sticking a sign on it) – be sad to see it go.

A couple of days ago I tried to weigh the Earth by turning my

come as no surprise to all you savy folks that the scale was

Sometimes you have to be impressed.

A car, which has sat for about 5 months, not been turned over, not even been sat in. I get a new battery, put it in, a little bit of oil in the top end of the engine, try number one. Nothing. Try number two, coughs. Try number three and it starts and runs – after a few seconds it starts sounding properly smooth again.

You gotta be impressed by that.

I’ve reached that terrified stage where I know what I need to do but am at the moment too busy panicing to actually do it. I need money, and I need it this month – otherwise there’s no way on earth I’m going to pay off the credit card bill at the end of next month.

I can’t pay anywhere near the amount I want too off anyway – which is stressing me out.

And I’ve got to pay for the bike insurance…which has to come out of real money, not pretend credit money, which is a nightmare. I have to change insurers next time – which is a shame because I like the people I’m with, and they’re reasonably cheap – but they don’t have credit card facilities.

I hate not having money – basically, I’m scared shitless.

So, I spent yesterday with Lauren building an impressive shelf unit. It’s about 7 ft high, and ocupies one of the doojits next to the chimney in our back room. It’s meant that we can actually see the floor (previously the entire room was full – now with more stuff in it than before it’s less than full and there’s space to decorate.

Well, yes. Anyway, after basically an entire day of hard work we got the shelves up and then put the servers on them….wonderful! Anyway, that was why this machine was down yesterday, and this morning – as one of the harddisks which are temporarily residing in it was moved out…

So.

That was yesterday. Today we had a simple plan. It was a good plan. Not too much laid on. Just a bit. Put new points on the ‘new’ MZ. (Can I just say that I hate points? Yes? Oh good. I *hate* points. No, I *really* *really* hate points. F*cking awful things).

Anyway, so we do the points. Ish. And then we move on to setting the mixture – but the bike’s being an absolute arse to start. Slowly it becomes apparent that the downpipe which looked like it had a few little pin-prick holes in it (“nothing to worry about”) is actually holed – so okay. Need a new downpipe. But we can’t get one locally, and really I can’t afford one. So, okay. How to repair it (remember this, we’ve been here before) – anyway – there’s no where to get brazing rods around here. Well, it’s possibly but requires a great deal of work. So – chemical metal and jubilee clips were obtained (6 quid).

And applied.

And hopefully tomorrow we’ll actually be able to start the damn bike.

I am decided. My next bike will be: New, Modern, Reliable – i.e. not an ancient design that’s been recycled. Not because there’s anything inherantly wrong with the ETZ. It’s a nice reliable bike. I’m just sick of sheds – because they suck up money and I don’t really *have* any money anymore.

Anyway, so that sucked.

Then I moved on to trying to get the LogiCrap Shitecam to work. Ha. Fat chance. My USB system doesn’t seem to even see it anymore. Which might mean it’s dead – or that the cable’s loose on the motherboard, or that the USB drivers don’t work properly…Could be anything really.

Grr.

Oh well, anyway, we’ve got 260W (RMS) of music in here atm and it’s a “bit hard to concentrate”….so, I’m gonna bugger off…
