Prodding Unsuccessful & History Meme

Comments Off on Prodding Unsuccessful & History Meme

I just spent an unsuccessful evening prodding a Denon UD-M50 bookshelf amp. It looks fairly new, but it’s got something majorly wrong with it. The thing doesn’t even reach standby. Fuses all fine, power reaching the circuits required, so I reckon an IC or a mini-teeny-fuse-that-doesn’t-look-like-a-fuse has gone. It’s dead, I think. Which is a shame. It wasn’t what I thought it was, and nor was it fixable. So it’ll probably go in the bin. *feh*.

Anyway, here’s that history meme….
10 Years Ago, I…
1) was just preparing to do start my A-level courses
2) was very depressed.
3) had started to learn to drive officially
4) had just been on a trip around Europe with my school
5) was starting to be less horrendously unpopular – and so was actually speaking to people

5 years ago I…
1) Was just finishing my degree in biochemistry
2) Was moving back to my parents house with no idea what I was going to do with my life
3) Beginning to realise I’d have to come out while still relying on my parents
4) Learning to program in Java
5) Buying my first PC (as opposed to a RiscOS computer)

3 years ago I…
1) was finishing working as a technical writer
2) was starting work on getting horribly into debt running a partnership with a friend
3) was struggling to come to terms with my dad’s illness
4) was just getting used to driving Rebecca, having come from a 1500 Golf to a 1098 Minor
5) realising that all the people from Uni that I promised I’d keep in touch with, with the exception of James, were drifting away

1 year ago I…
1) was coming to terms with being single
2) was falling apart over my placement which put me around kids all the time (reminder: I can’t have kids)
3) was starting to consider that maybe, just maybe, I needed some councelling about the kids / dad – cancer / mess my life was thing
4) building a dashboard for my Morris Minor
5) was having a lot of ‘bad’ days

So far this year, I’ve…
1) put myself back together with the help of a councellor and some good friends
2) started work on dealing with the death of my father
3) spent countless hours fixing my car, which despite my love and attention has been hideously abused in the past; hopefully we’re now past that stage and onto only my abuse
4) met Trey, fallen in love and been very happy
5) been on a walking holiday, something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time, and yet only with Trey have I found the time…

Yesterday, I…
1) should’ve done more work
2) went swimming, again, in my favourite pool, which is closing in 3 days time.
3) received two singles, only one of which I paid for, but then discovered that I really can’t listen to them on Lauren’s amp.
4) drove to uni, because ‘they’ said it was going to rain. It didn’t.
5) finished watching BSG…

Today I….
1) hauled myself out of bed at 7 something.
2) had my standard breakfast – shredded wheat (and milk), water and a cup of coffee.
3) sat writing this post
4) am going to have a shower (when I’ve done this)
5) am wearing my glasses, ‘cos I’ve not showered yet

Tomorrow, I will…
1) hopefully get some work done
2) will not have to go into uni, so may organise getting the right exhaust for my mog
3) will hopefully go swimming again
4) will get over the disposal of the Amp I picked up yesterday which quite definately doesn’t work
5) will probably not get as much work done as I need to do

Kate's allegedly a human (although increasingly right-wing bigots would say otherwise). She's definitely not a vampire, despite what some other people claim. She's also mostly built out of spite and overcoming oppositional-sexism, racism, and other random bullshit. So she's either a human or a lizard in disguise sent to destroy all of humanity. Either way, she's here to reassure that it's all fine.
