    Where Was Ted Cruz Radicalized?

    meret118:

When GOP presidential candidate, Ted Cruz stated, “We need to empower
law enforcement to patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they
    become radicalized,” I chuckled.

    I mean it’s no
laughing matter to stigmatize and ostracize an entire community based on
their religious affiliation — but I find it funny. The Muslim community
has already been monitored for years. It’s something we joke about
inside the mosque.  We joke that those watching us will decide to
convert to Islam or that they are simply bored watching us.  But not
only that — it’s the hypocrisy.  If Muslim Americans are “radical” then
what is Ted Cruz? The fuzzy Easter Bunny?

    Let’s take a
look at the two Muslim Congressmen, Keith Ellison and André Carson. Both
support LGBT rights, the right to choose and causes that protect basic
human rights. As a Muslim, this is right in line with my beliefs.
Contrary to Islamophobic drivel:  as a Muslim, we must adhere to the law
of the land in which we live.  We share this land with people of all
walks of life. My religious freedom is important — and the freedom of
others to not practice religion, practice a different religion or live
out their beliefs (as long as they do not harm others) is equally
    important.

    Let’s take a
look at LGBT equality.  Even if gay marriage is not practiced inside my
religion, I have no right to impose my religious beliefs onto others I
share society with.  In this vein, I’m proud to be a Muslim American and
proud of the Congressmen that represent my demographic.  Like Ellison
and Carson, I would also support LGBT rights if were in a political
position. Does Ted Cruz?  Yeah, not so much.

    Think Progress
quoted Ted Cruz addressing his Iowa supporters in January regarding LGBT
rights, “Our country is in a time of crisis. We’re losing who we are.”

    If Cruz wants
to call the Muslim American community radical, he needs to look in the
mirror. We are not the ones pushing our religious beliefs into the
political process.  He is the one doing that.  We’re not the ones trying
to shut down Planned Parenthood. He is the one doing that. We’re not
the ones speaking out against the LGBT community. He is the one doing
    that.

    Ted Cruz is a
scary guy — even scarier than Donald Trump. He hails from the
Evangelical Dominion sect that preaches taking control of the nation and
taking the wealth from the “wicked.” His father, Rafael Cruz, can be
seen in videos online preaching about Christian Kings that are anointed
to take control. Ted Cruz believes that America is a “Christian” nation
and that this must be restored.

Sorry, Ted. You are not my King.

    Rafael Cruz
preaches about the Seven Mountains of Dominionism whereby Christians are
meant to take dominion over seven cultural elements:  family, religion,
education, media, entertainment, business and government. The sect is
based out of the belief of Isaiah 2:2: “Now it shall come to pass in the
latter days that the Lord’s house shall be established on the top of
    the mountains.”

    Ted Cruz gives
political speeches as if he on the church pulpit — talking about the
body of Christ and God.  Listen man, I have my beliefs about Jesus
(peace be upon him) and God — but I don’t bring them into the public,
political sphere. They don’t belong there.

    This is not a
Christian nation. We are a secular nation made up of Christians, Jews,
Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics and other faiths and
    non-faiths.

Does it scare you that Ted Cruz wants to impose his Christian sharia onto the general citizenry of the United States? It should.

    Adding to this
radicalization is the list of those he appointed to his advisory
committees.  The list reads like the Who’s Who? of Islamophobia and the
anti-Muslim movement. Southern Poverty Law center provided detailed profiles of eight anti-Muslim activists, five now named to the Cruz campaign and three to the Trump campaign.

    Many hail from
the anti-Muslim Center for Security Policy.  (Anti-Muslim groups always
pick names that make it sound like an official government agency. Kind
of like when you get that junk mail that scares you into opening it
thinking you owe taxes or your house is about to be repossessed, only to
find out inside they are trying to sell you something worthless.)

    Ted Cruz
demands that a United States president must bend their knee (in worship)
to be in the White House.  This is lunacy. This guy is dangerous.

    I exercised my
first amendment right in Chicago by protesting Trump’s speech at UIC
Pavilion due to his overtly xenophobic rhetoric that has incited hate
crimes. The Ted Cruz platform, however, is far more dangerous than
Trump’s and should also be called out for exactly what it is: radical.

as the gender police step up their game | Crime and the Blog of Evil

    solarbird:

So here’s video of a cop throwing a lesbian against a wall and out of a washroom for dressing too butch, as the Gender Police start stepping up their game. This has been happening for a while, but the new fundamentalist right Queer Panic is really ramping it back up again. It’s like Saudi Arabia and the goddamn religious police in action, only, you know, it’s not a death penalty situation – yet.

That video pretty much instantly triggered a new Mary Kaye and the Cosmetics song. They’re my all-dyke hardcore punk alt-band who play only Hello Kitty-branded instruments, and they write shit like this and My Boyfriend and Sad Muppet. I’ve worked out the lyrics and most of the chords, of which there are four.

It’s short and very screamy. I’m not sure I have the vocal chops for it but I’m going to try. The lyrics are not worksafe.

Also, this same pack of assholes are going to be ramping up their local to me initiative campaign next week.

See, they may have local activists, but all these trace back to one specific large group of fundamentalist/reconstructionist lawyers who advocate making queer people illegal across the world. This time, it results in putting a $2500 bounty on trans kids in schools. I am not even making that shit up, it’s $2500 per kid per washroom break, because as I’ve said before: these SOBs aren’t happy unless they can make queer kids as miserable and broken as possible. It’s what they live for.

And yet, somehow, we’re the supervillains. jfc.

I think I’m gonna go work more on that song now.

John Kasich Wishes LGBT People Would Just “Get Over” Discrimination

“During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, the Ohio governor dismissed the outcry over anti-LGBTQ laws springing up in states across the country — North Carolina,Mississippi, Tennessee — saying those who face discrimination should take it in stride.

“If you feel as though somebody is doing something wrong against you, can you just, for a second, get over it, you know, because this thing will settle down,” Kasich said.

Kasich argued government must balance the interests of religious people who oppose LGBTQ rights and those people who face discrimination.

“I just wish that everybody would just take a breath and calm down, because, you see, trying to figure out how to legislate that balance is complicated, and you keep doing do-overs, because nobody gets it right,” he said. “So if we would just kind of calm down here, I think things would settle down. And what I like to say is, ‘Just relax.’”

Politicians around the country are trying to pass leglistation that prevents transgender people from using the restroom consistent with their gender. This is my response.

  • Transphobic Bathroom Bill is Officially Collecting Signatures—Here’s Their Ballot Title and Number

    rambleonamazon:

    seattlish:

The anti-trans bathroom and locker room initiative being headed up by a campaign called Just Want Privacy is offically beginning the long slog of collecting signatures to qualify for the ballot.

After challenging their ballot language numerous times, JWP was dealt a blow in the courts when the ballot title and language handed down (with no appeals left) was, well, accurate

    image

Because that’s what this initiative would do—it would override the existing protections for trans folks under the state’s nondiscrimination language by requiring that they use not the restroom which best fits their identity, but rather, which fits their sex at birth.

This, of course, represents a basic misunderstanding/ignorance about trans individuals—not to mention in direct contradiction with, you know, medical science—but that’s sure not stopping these alleged humans from creating marketing materials like this:

LOLLLLLL  I CAN’T EVEN TELL YOU ALL THE WAYS THIS IS AWFUL.

Anyway, despite only having about two months and change to gather close to 300k signatures (GOOD LUCK), a feat which will likely take literal millions of dollars (which they are not exactly raking in, even with the help of all these bigots!) and may still not end with a spot on the November ballot.

As we have warned about before, this is 100% not actually about the safety of women and children (it, for example, would not have done anything to thwart this recent incident of bathroom grossness at SeaTac airport!). It will protect no women. What it will do is make trans and non binary folks in our community less safe, and will essentially legalize transphobia by business owners, patrons, and schools.

It’s a bad initiative. Don’t sign it. To help, we’ve updated out What to Sign guide:

Do you live in Washington? Are you going to any festivals or street fairs this summer? Print out this handy guide so you know which signature gatherers are worth you time and which you can ignore!
