“"What you’re looking at is a myosin protein dragging an endorphin
along a filament to the inner part of the brain’s parietal cortex, which
creates happiness. You’re looking at happiness.“

…Or at least a rush. But still.  :)

This is one of my favorite videos of all time. I love all of it – the little proteins growing, the real science at the root of all of it, the way you can see everything that’s really happening in your cells at every single second.

    Plus it’s got cute music.

I’d been kicking this idea around for a while and trying to think about how to articulate it. Pretty happy with how it eventually turned out!

Sometimes I think about my reasons for getting tattoos (just for myself, not because they need justification). Adding onto this painting metaphore, I think getting ink is a way for me to put down portable roots. I move a lot and will be doing it again soon, and until I can actually settle down and paint some walls I’ll take visual control of something more accessible, namely myself.

    Morning reblog!

    Damn that was beautiful.

    I feel this so hard!

    Hear hear!

I need to get some tattoos. Reclaim my body a bit since I had to give up my tongue stud

The Washington State Human Rights Commissionissued a statement regarding the Seattle locker room Incident.

“When a man recently entered a women’s locker room at a Seattle pool, his intent was obviously to make the women and girls in the restroom upset and uncomfortable, and to make some kind of misguided point about the Human Rights Commission’s rules regarding equal access to gender-segregated facilities.

“His behavior is inexcusable and reprehensible.”

The full statement is available here: http://ift.tt/1n2q5xM

“…Men cannot go into the women’s locker room, as this man claimed he had the right to do. Only women, including transgender women, can go into the women’s locker room. Persons who enter the wrong gender-segregated facility for nefarious purposes can be asked to leave in no uncertain terms. And they would have no recourse.”
